Wouldn’t you love to go to a school reunion and have people marvel at how good you look? I was surprised at my 35th reunion, when I realized that all the women who looked really wonderful, in most cases, used cosmetics in high school. When you think about it, there could be a very simple reason. If you used color cosmetics in high school, you might also be more inclined to use skin care products in the coming years. I believe that is the real reason for looking great, well into your forties, fifties and beyond.

If for some reason, I could only use 5 products (I use a lot more) the ones I would choose are facial cleanser, moisturizer, eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss. Most people, even in today’s tight economy, can afford those 5 products. It’s rewarding to use some of the anti-aging products because of the dramatic results you can get in skin texture and firmness. Color cosmetics beyond eyeliner, mascara and lipstick play up your best features and minimize others. However for the sake of streamlining a routine for you, let’s just talk about these first five items.

1. Facial Cleanser
A good facial cleanser will remove impurities on the surface of the skin and if it is a 3-in1 cleanser, it also exfoliates and tones while leaving the skin clean and clear. Quality cleansers will also hydrate the skin to a certain extent.

2.Moisturizer
Look for a moisturizer that is positioned as a skin hydrating product. Buy one specifically for your skin type. These moisturizers will soothe and soften dry skin or can absorb oil for up to 10 hours for combination to oily skin. Don’t forget to apply it to your throat as well.

3.Eyeliner
As we age, our eyelashes thin. Eyeliner applied into the lash line makes the lashes look thicker and more abundant, drawing attention to your eyes. It can be applied sparingly for a more natural look or thicker and smudged for a smoky, dramatic look.

4.Mascara
Mascara lengthens and thickens the lashes, almost like putting a frame on a picture. If you are using only these 5 products, choose lengthening mascara rather than a waterproof one. Waterproof needs to be removed with an oil free eye-makeup remover to prevent damage to the lashes at night. Be sure to use two or three thin coats of mascara, allowing the lashes to dry between each application.

5.Lipstick
Lipstick gives you that extra little punch. Create a statement by using a dramatic color or just deepen the natural tone of your lip by using a softer shade. Either way, lipstick finishes your look! Before purchasing, try a sample in the daylight as the fluorescent lights in stores change the appearance of the color.

Using these five simple steps gets you out the door quickly in the morning, looking polished and confident. As well you will reap the rewards of beautiful skin well into your later years.

Due to the humidity from the warmer months and the cold air that tends to take a toll on women during the winter months, there is a common misconception that heavier make-up needs to be worn as spring and summer approach. Sometimes women feel that they have to put on a little heavier make up in order to cover up the damage that the recent winter has done to their face. During the much anticipated warm season, when women get to embrace wearing lighter, fun clothing, they want to be able to also wear cooler, lighter make-up as well.

The perfect cosmetics for the spring and summer months are mineral cosmetics. They are conveniently lightweight, airy, and offer complete, long-lasting coverage. Mineral make-up products are all powdered and are available in the form of foundation, concealer, eye shadow and blush. A new mineral lipstick also offers long-lasting color that is not too heavy.

Heavy make-up can often leave you feeling weighed down. Most women prefer to go without any foundation and concealer at all during the summer months. However, they still want to use proper UV protection to shield them from the sun’s harmful rays, leaving them with flawless looking skin. For those who do not want to wear make-up but still want to wear something to protect their skin, there is a happy medium found in mineral foundation and concealer. As stated before, all mineral make-up is lightweight and offers protection from those detrimental UV rays. Mineral cosmetics also adhere to the skin with a light coat, providing ample coverage resulting in flawless skin without having to ‘cake’ on the foundation.

Mineral cosmetics are proof that make-up does not have to be heavy to create a flawlessly beautiful finish that women crave from heavier make-up. Mineral cosmetics are perfect to wear during the winter months as well, when the harsh weather conditions can be cruel to your skin. Mineral cosmetics are made from some of the purest and most refined ingredients from the Earth, and never contain chemical additives, dyes, or parabens that can also irritate your skin.

Mineral make-up is available in shades for every skin tone. Whether you have very pale, porcelain skin, or very dark skin, mineral make-up can help give you coverage that will last all day. Whether you have neutral undertones or golden undertones, there is a mineral foundation and concealer available to enhance your skin and leave you feeling like you are not wearing any make-up at all!

Mineral cosmetics, along with other make-up products, are available in what is commonly referred to as cool colors and warm colors. These days, there are simple ways to figure out which color profile your skin is, so that you can pick out a product that will ultimately give you a perfect appearance. A good rule of thumb to abide by is that if you are a woman who has blue or gray eyes with blue or pink skin undertones, you should stick to wearing cooler colors. For these women, hair color is usually blonde, black or brown. The foundation you choose will usually be pink or red based, and women who are sport the cool colors usually look great in jewel toned clothing such as purple, green, blue and pink. Summer and winter months usually help to provide the best looks for cool-toned women.

On the other hand, women who have brown, green, or hazel eyes should stick to wearing warmer colors. Their foundation will have yellow undertones, and their hair color is usually darker brown, black, red, auburn, warm blonde or strawberry blond. Warm-toned women usually look great in earthy tones such as brown, green, yellow, orange, and red, and the spring and fall months usually help to provide the best looks for these women.

Both cool and warm tones can be found in mineral make-up. Therefore, whichever tone is the best look for you, you will be completely happy with this lightweight foundation all year long. Once you have mastered your skin tone and color palette, try to look for mineral make-up to replace that heavier product you sport in the winter. Your skin will instantly feel much lighter and healthier, and it will not feel like you are wearing twenty pounds of make-up on your face.

Mineral make-up is a fairly new creation, but lightweight cosmetics have been around for decades. Many women found that they had two sets of makeup including one for the autumn and winter months, when the weather was colder, and one for the spring and summer months, which included a make-up bag that had much less products in it. Switching to mineral cosmetics can erase the need for the two separate make-up kits, and can combine the tones and colors into one bag of perfect make up all year long.

There are a number of ingredients which are used in cosmetics, with various types of ingredients being used to create vastly different colors and textures once the cosmetic items have been applied. Despite there being so many options available when it comes to the overall ingredients in cosmetics, most cosmetics will feature one of three types of base ingredients. Instead of being focused on creating the perfect shades, the base ingredients are what make up the underlying core of the cosmetic application. These ingredients determine the overall texture of the makeup, whether the cosmetic items are thick or thin, and can even affect how easy or difficult application of the product is. The three most common base ingredients found in cosmetics are water, minerals, and oils.

Obviously, each of these three ingredients has their own qualities as well as their own advantages and disadvantages. Because of how important it is to have the ability to match cosmetics with your skin type and personal preferences, taking the time to compare and understand these three base ingredients could be the key to finding the exact type of cosmetics that will meet your needs and best complement your skin tone. Here are the most important details about each type of cosmetics base so that you can find the type that is best for you.

Water-Based Cosmetics

Many water-based cosmetics choose water as their base ingredient because it can produce a lighter and thinner product than either mineral-based or oil-based cosmetics. This is an especially popular option with many mascaras and liquid eyeliners, since they rely on their thinner nature to be able to be applied effectively. In addition to being able to produce a product that flows well and goes on lightly, many water-based cosmetics cost less to produce as opposed to other bases. This can lead to a product that not only is easy to apply but that also has a slightly lower cost on average than other options.

Many water-based liquid cosmetics will have a natural glossiness to them, a characteristic which can be accentuated in products such as lip gloss or which can be toned down by the addition of powdered ingredients in concealers. Water-based cosmetics may be a bit more difficult to apply, but tend to not clump as much as other types.

Mineral-Based Cosmetics

Not as common as water- or oil-based cosmetics but rapidly growing in popularity, mineral-based cosmetic products use natural minerals as their base component and pigment. This results in cosmetic products which are most often sold as an ultrafine powder, eliminating much of the glossiness and difficulty that can come with using liquid-based cosmetics. Many mineral-based cosmetics use only natural ingredients, making sure that all of the pigments that appear in the products are shades that can be found in nature and also reducing the likelihood of allergic reactions that are often triggered by chemically-based ingredients. Because of the purity of the ingredients (and in some cases, the difficulty of getting the ingredients in the first place), many mineral-based cosmetics will have at least a slightly higher price than water-based and oil-based cosmetics. It is important to do as much research into the type of cosmetics you are considering purchasing, in order to ensure that you go home with the type which is best for your skin.

The majority of mineral-based cosmetics can be used to give slight hints of color where needed without overpowering the natural beauty of the face. Because of its powdered nature, mineral-based cosmetics can appear more natural than other types of cosmetic products, when used sparingly. Mineral-based cosmetics generally go on easily, though it can take some practice to find the exact amount needed when changing from liquid cosmetics.
Oil-Based Cosmetics

The other common base ingredient for cosmetic products is oil, with oil-based cosmetics featuring a wide variety of colors, textures, and application techniques. Because of the ease with which oil-based cosmetics cling to the skin they present a happy medium for many between water-based products and the powders of mineral-based cosmetic products. The thickness of oil-based cosmetics can vary from liquids to near-solids, with the cosmetic products staying in place relatively well regardless of the thickness when applied. Different types of oil and pigments can be used in oil-based cosmetics, allowing manufacturers to release numerous product lines that are similar in scope but which all feature unique characteristics and shades. The price of oil-based cosmetics depends largely on the specific ingredients that are used in their manufacture, so both low-priced and high-priced options exist.

The biggest concern that many people have in regards to using oil-based cosmetics is that they are often more noticeable than other cosmetic types. Though application is generally quite easy for oil-based concealers and other oil cosmetics, care must be taken to make sure that too much is not applied at once.

Tips For Make Up
icon1 admin | icon2 Beauty | icon4 08 15th, 2009| icon3No Comments »

Mineral makeup has burst onto the cosmetics scene recently, and for good reason. While many makeup products on the market today use fillers and binders, mineral makeup goes back to basics, using natural ingredients to create a modern look. Mineral makeup is created from micronized minerals, including colorants such as micas, oxides, and ultramarines. Titanium dioxide and zinc dioxide are also common ingredients, providing mineral makeup with broad spectrum UVA/UVB skin protection and making it a smarter option for your skin.

Unfortunately many women wait until they are only a few months away from their wedding day before they even begin to give any thought to skin care. Start early and take care of your skin now. You will need to work out your skin type to help you establish a proper skin care regime. This, combined with good eating habits, drinking plenty of water, getting enough sleep and regular exercise will ensure that your skin will be radiant on your big day.

Equally important, is knowing the expectations of the bride. The makeup artist should note that the bride will want to feel comfortable, not confined by her bridal hair and makeup. Being comfortable may also mean keeping the makeup simple, not vibrant. This may not be the day to experiment with a new style. The bride does not want to feel self-conscious of her new look. She will want everyone to notice her beauty today and for years that follow in photographs.

Some girls forget to wash their face with cold water and apply moisturizing lotion before the makeup. It is very important that you wash your face with cold water because this will stimulate the blood circulation in your skin, which makes it ready for the makeup. Also applying moisturizing lotion is important because your makeup will last longer.

Locating a specialist in your area shouldn’t be difficult. A lot of ladies are choosing beauty makeup as an alternative to having to waste every morning applying makeup when they could be doing something different, like getting some extra, and necessary, sleep. Explain your expectations to the specialist once you locate one you are happy with. Your specialist will present what products he or she will be working with, what the process involves and what you should look forward to.

Since the main purpose of any makeup is to make the skin look better, we need to ask how mineral makeup compares to normal cosmetics as far as aesthetics are concerned. The clear answer is - very well indeed. Mineral makeup is especially useful for covering up the skin’s crow’s feet, wrinkles and the like, due to the fact it reflects the sun’s rays. It offers a very natural, healthy look.

There are many ways to use makeup cosmetics to enhance your appearance. The methods you choose to apply makeup cosmetics is up to you; however knowing what is out there for your use will help make the decision easier. Less is more has been the new way to apply makeup, though we still see heavy eye shadow and dark lipstick most women have gone with a more subtle approach.

I was enraged after reading about this. There is much misinformation and hype that the cosmetics companies have created, the average consumer just can’t make sense out of it. She doesn’t know where to go for authentic skin care information, which products should she use and which ones to avoid like the plague. Let’s try to remedy that now.

Did you have this skin care information?

Fact is - most of the products these companies produce, contain cheap and harmful ingredients inside. They contain chemicals like Parabens, Mineral Oil and fragrances inside.

Parabens are effective preservatives and used in these products to increase their shelf life. They are also known carcinogens and have even been banned in the European Union for cosmetic use.

Mineral oil, although used as a moisturizing agent in the creams, actually reduces the natural moisture in the skin and makes it even drier than before.

Fragrances are chemicals too which can cause skin allergies and irritation.

The only reason the companies use these ingredients is - they are cheap and easy to process and use in their products, not for improving your skin.

An important part of skin care information is the knowledge about effective ingredients. As an educated consumer, you should be aware of the ingredients of any product that you apply on your skin. Does it contain any chemicals? What do the listed ingredients actually do? You should know the answer to these questions and then only should you consider buying any cream and using it on your skin.

There is just no sense in exposing your skin to so many risks by using chemical laden creams. There are many effective natural substances that are beneficial for the skin. You can use them safely and still get better results than the chemical creams.

You need to look for natural substances like Phytessence Wakame. This sea kelp from Japan has been used there as a beauty aid since centuries. It is the secret behind the smooth, soft skin of the women there. This kelp contains many vitamins and minerals that nourish the skin and keep it healthy. It prevents the damage caused by the UV rays and protects the skin from age spots.

Cynergy TK - an extract from the wool of New Zealand sheep, is very effective at enhancing Collagen and Elastin production in the skin. These two proteins are essential for keeping the skin smooth, elastic and free from wrinkles.

Jojoba Oil is a light wax extracted from the seed of the Jojoba plant. It is an effective moisturizer and helps in healing the skin.

So there you have it. All the skin care information you need to make the right choices for your skin. Use it now and see how your skin transforms into a younger and healthier one.

Mineral cosmetics are the latest styling mantra. Whether consumers or brands, none can ignore the rage created by mineral cosmetics. However, what is strange is the fact that, mineral cosmetics are not essentially a new concept. A small company made them some years ago and since then, they attained overnight fame, where suddenly everyone, is all praises for mineral cosmetics.

Could there be a reason behind this trend, that is the slow progress of mineral cosmetics, or is it just a matter of chance? Mineral cosmetics have their own flaws, which are obviously not advertised by the highly competitive mineral cosmetic market. These flaws are not necessarily common to all mineral makeup brands and the exact situation varies, with the manufacturing style. But a deeper insight helps.

Few Ingredients That Could Adversely Affect The Skin

Mineral cosmetics are made from natural elements present in earth and are therefore, considered to be quite safe for skin. However, there are various components present in them that could be harmful.

Titanium Dioxide - An extremely important component of mineral cosmetics, Titanium Dioxide is found in majority of mineral cosmetics, irrespective of the brand producing cosmetics. However, this ingredient is still under scrutiny for its possible connotation with cancer.

Mica - Mica is used in mineral cosmetics to help reduce the appearance of enlarged pores and fine lines. Quiet a famous component, Mica, is bio-accumulative and is considered toxic to the liver and the gastrointestinal and respiratory systems. Not to mention, the Cosmetic Industry Review Board has not scrutinized Mica, which is yet approved by FDA, for usage as a component in cosmetics.

Ultramarine Colors - Ultramarine colors are used to cool down foundations. However, the same are not approved in the United States for use on lips.

Silica - Used as an absorbent and oil control product, in mineral cosmetics, Silica, may be contaminated with small quantities of crystalline quartz. The crystalline quartz is considered to be carcinogenic and must be avoided.

Additionally, there are various other ingredients that could cause irritation or allergy to different skin types.

An analysis of the mentioned simply reflects, the FDA’s casual regulation policies, towards cosmetics in general and mineral cosmetics in particular. Many procedures and ingredients, have not been aptly tested by the Cosmetic Industry Review Board, but are still legal, as have been approved by FDA. Skin is important and damage to the same is possible, if cosmetics are not used prior to apt research.

The Color Compromise - Mineral cosmetics if considered in their 100% natural form, do not offer many color options. For a pure mineral cosmetic, the color liking must be sacrificed. However, many companies add dyes to mineral cosmetics, thus providing, the desired shade chart. But if dyes are to be used, then why so much propaganda, against regular cosmetics, which too have dyes in their composition?

The Talc Controversy - Many believe that talc accentuates wrinkles and not to mention, the same is used in mineral cosmetics. Technically speaking, talc is Magnesium Silicate Hydroxide. Various studies conducted over time, have established a link, between talc and pulmonary tissues, ovarian cancer, and lung, which is even a major concern than the earlier mentioned wrinkles. Please note here, that no conclusive study has yet been made, to determine either the toxicity and/or carcinogenic nature of talc, thus leaving the entire matter in a gray area.

The Impact - Cosmetics are applied for that ultimate look and not a smudgy or heavy mask kind of a feel. But many feel, that this is what mineral cosmetics have to offer. There are further complaints, that mineral products emphasize, upon the fine lines and pores and impart an even aged look.

The ally of mineral cosmetics however, alleges that it is about fine application procedures and manufacturing steps. The finer the minerals, the less shinier they appear. As for the smudgy look, application tips like dabbing with wet sponge, could help.

Despite the debate, mineral cosmetics are gaining in popularity. Bad as they might sound, the mineral version of makeup is still better than their counterpart, the regular cosmetics, which are quite harmful.

Cosmetics are worn everyday by people, but for some, that can be a very painful experience. If you have sensitive skin, the application of something seemingly innocent like foundation, powder or lipstick can cause a chain reaction of red, itchy skin, broken skin, bumps, and rashes. This is your skin telling you that it does not like one or more of the ingredients in the makeup that you are using. If you find that you have sensitive skin, the switch to mineral makeup, one of several nontoxic cosmetics available on the market today, will be astounding.

There are some makeup ingredients that may cause flareups in your skin that you might not expect to be the culprit. One of those ingredients is paraben, which is added to commonly used personal care products such as shampoo, lotions, toothpaste, shaving gel and others as a preservative that combats the formation of bacteria and fungus in products. The problem with parabens is that some concerns have been raised about parabens possible link as a carcinogen, as well as the effect it is reputed to have on estrogen. To err on the side of safety, many people now choose paraben free cosmetics, and paraben free skincare products.

When you decide to buy cosmetics online, be sure to look up mineral cosmetics. Mineral makeup is allergen and toxin free, and thus safe to use on even sensitive skin. Mineral cosmetics are also paraben free cosmetics, so you know that they will be safe to use and soothing to your delicate skin.

Mineral cosmetics are beautiful and fun to wear. You will find all of the different varieties of makeup that you commonly wear, such as concealer, foundation, powder, eye liner, mascara, eye shadows, blush and lipstick, all available as paraben free skincare products. You will want to make sure that you have the appropriate applicators and brushes for applying cosmetics made from minerals, because with proper application they offer a smooth finish for your skin that looks natural yet covers blemishes well.

Those who suffer from acne often find relief by switching to nontoxic cosmetics made from minerals. Because mineral makeup does not clog your pores, it tends to be very helpful in clearing up acne, and at the same time making you look beautiful.

It is a great deal of fun to buy cosmetics online, because you can shop at your convenience in the privacy of your home, and compare products to find the best nontoxic cosmetics made from minerals that work well with your complexion and highlight your beauty.

There are a number of reasons many have joined the mineral makeup bandwagon. Mineral foundation makeup provides seamless coverage that lets your skin breathe, cleverly camouflaging imperfections sans the cakey appearance. They’re ideal for the acne and break-out prone because they’re made from naturally occurring minerals. Mineral cosmetics are the latest trend today. It has already gained a huge following and popularity among women and other cosmetic users. In reality, mineral cosmetics already existed many years ago.

The first makeup essential that is applied to your face is the foundation. Its purpose is implied in the name. Foundation prepares your face for the rest of the makeup. It is like preparing a canvas before you paint. The rest of the makeup looks better when foundation is applied. To cut out a bit of the cost, try doing some research first. There are plenty of sites on the web that provide reviews of various makeup brands, including all of the mineral makeup manufacturers. Read what they have to say.

Mica is another mineral used in the cosmetics which promotes fine pores and reduce fine lines. However, this controversial mineral is toxic to the liver, the gastrointestinal tract and the respiratory system. Ultramarine colors are on foundations however, it is not approved to be used as a component of lipsticks. Using a Kabuki brush (sold wherever mineral makeup is sold), dip the bristles into the makeup. You won’t need much of it to use on your face. Tap the handle of the brush against the lid with the bristles facing upwards. This spreads the mineral foundation throughout the bristles of the brush as well as removing any extra from the brush.

Whether or not you use a wet sponge, be sure to distribute the product evenly on your face. Do not stop until all lines have completely disappeared. If you want to choose a mineral foundation online, you’ll have more companies to choose from. The websites have great photos of the colors - although some monitors may interpret colors slightly differently than other monitors. With that in mind, the mineral companies also give a written description of their colors.

Many people just don’t know how to treat their problems. The only person who gets hurt from this situation is the customer himself. Instead of buying a natural skin care cream which can get to the bottom of the problem permanently, he ends up buying something which only damages the skin on the long run.

Mineral makeup is not just for the eyes and cheeks. What about your lips? They need to be tended to you want an overall natural look of beauty. For your glossing pleasure there are mineral lip glosses to choose from that will complement your facial features.
You might be thinking that mineral cosmetics are powders. How are you going to apply powders to your lips? It’s true that most mineral makeup is a pressed or loose powder created from natural earth minerals.

These mineral powders can be used anywhere on your body including your lips. You can mix shades for eyes and cheeks to create new eye and blush colors. This can be done for the lips as well. Natural minerals are combined with lip glosses to create a healthy lasting look.

Mineral lip gloss

Mineral lip gloss is just as soft as traditional lipstick but the ingredients are different. Natural mineral lip glosses contain naturally occurring oils, beeswax, fruit butters and nut butters to create the rich base for the gloss. The natural minerals are also added: mica, titanium oxide, zinc oxide and iron oxides (to provide color).

Some mineral lip glosses and lipsticks don’t use beeswax. This works well for the vegan makeup wearers who want to look their best and healthiest which would be to use mineral cosmetics. Mineral lip glosses are not tested on animals. They contain no synthetic preservatives but are naturally preserved.

Choosing a lip gloss

Choosing a lip gloss is just like choosing a lipstick. First, you want a color that will complement your skin tone for day wear. The best look of beauty is to enhance the amazing features that you already have. Mineral cosmetics do that quite well.
In the evening, you can take the color up a notch just like you do with your eye shadow. Mix other mineral powder with clear mineral gloss to create a new color just for you. Since the mineral powders contain the same mineral properties, it is okay to do so. Mineral powders can also be mixed and used wet to create new colors.

Applying mineral lip gloss

Apply your mineral lip gloss just like you would any other lipstick. Apply the lip gloss to your lower lip, being careful to follow the natural lip line. Continue to your upper lip until the entire lip area is covered. You have your choice of a natural hair or synthetic bristle lip brush for application.

Mineral powders can be used as lip liners for your mineral gloss. Choose a color that complements your lip gloss but is a little darker. Add a few drops of water and apply to the natural lip line with a lip liner brush before applying your mineral lip gloss.

Like we said above, mineral powders can be wetted and applied to the lips. Clear mineral lip gloss can be applied over the powder for a ravishing new look.
Bleeding is not a problem with mineral lip gloss. Coverage is smooth and stays on all day with no moisture loss.
